Signing into Microsoft for the First Time

The first time you sign into Microsoft you will need to configure the MultiFactor Authentication.

In Preparation, please download from the Play Store or the Apple App Store the “Microsoft Authenticator” app by “Microsoft Corporation”  Note: This Microsoft Authenticator app is for your Smart Phone only.

Use the following steps to sign in for the first time:

Go to outlook.office.com

Sign in using your email address and the new password you previously received.

On the next screen enter your password and Click Next

Note: If you receive the following prompt, please pick “Work or School Account”:

Action Required.  For this step you will begin the process of setting up Multifactor Authentication. On the below screen, click Next:

If you haven’t downloaded the Microsoft Authenticator App on your phone, now is the time to do it:

For Iphone, it looks like this:

then click Next, and Next again:

Open the Microsoft Authenticator App on your phone.

Tap Accept and Continue.

Tap “Scan a QR Code”

Click Ok

 

 

Scan the QR code that is on your Computer Screen:

                   

Click Allow for notifcations

Click Next on the Computer.  Now your computer will ask you to try it out and it will display a code.

On your phone, you should get a pop up like this to enter the code:

Enter the code into your phone, and the dialog on your computer should change and says Notification Approved.  Click Next.

And Click Done

You will now be directed to the Sign in and be asked whether you want to say signed in.  If this is your private computer you pick yes.  If your ever using this in Public, ALWAYS pick No.
